Mrs. Carol "Annette" Lasseter Nelson

Carol “Annette” Lasseter Nelson, age 85, entered eternity with Jesus, her loving Savior, April 16, 2022, the love of her life, Neal Nelson, 62 ½ years married, at her side. Annette was born May 4, 1936, in Gadsden, Alabama, to Thomas James and Sarah Inez Lasseter, preceded in death by them and her baby sister, Brenda Lasseter Mayes. She leaves to cherish her memories, Harold “Neal” Nelson (she called him her Neal or her sweet guy), her three children, Tim (Gloria) Nelson, Rhonda (Mac) Lewis, and Rebecca (Chip) Mahan, and by her loving sister, Joy Lasseter Hodge and her nephew Keith Hodge and nephew Matthew Mayes. She also is survived by her six grandchildren, Kristin Nelson, Sarah (Joe) Mahan Precup, Ryan (Jamie) Lewis, Christopher Mahan, Breanna Mahan, and Ricky Meza. Also living legacies are her six great-grandchildren, Adalynn Belle Nelson, Everly Blaise Nelson, Hendrix Gage Edmonds, Caelum Skye Edmonds, Elliott Nathaniel Lewis, and Landon Micah Precup. She also leaves to her memory many other relatives and friends, with some having gone before her. Annette gave her life to Jesus many years ago and was never ashamed to say so and share her testimony with others. She loved to sing hymns and among her favorites were In the Garden, Jerusalem, Rock of Ages, and Just as I Am. Two beautiful old love songs that represent Annette and Neal’s marriage are, "Memories are Made of This" (Dean Martin) and "Bushel and a Peck" (Doris Day). She loved her husband, family and friends with all her heart and enjoyed telling others how proud she was of each of them! Hobbies in her lifetime were growing and enjoying beautiful flowers, birdwatching, weather-watching, health and exercise, and sewing. For most of her married life, Annette was a devoted homemaker to her family. Before marriage and a few years during marriage, she worked as a secretary for the Gadsden Air Force Depot then transferred to Mobile, AL to work also as a secretary, at Brookley Air Force Base, and met Neal and married him, at Westlawn Baptist Church. She volunteered at church and other groups in her younger years. Annette was an avid swimmer growing up, working as a lifeguard in her teenaged years, saving at least one person’s life during that time. She was her dad’s fishin’ buddy as he had no sons and helped her mom around the house. Her favorite subject in school was algebra! Visitation is set for 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with service to follow at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home, 7158 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36695. Interment will be at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 26577; this service will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. Please arrive early at the Pavilion if attending. There will not be a procession from the funeral home.
