Mr. Charles Mickey Ellis Sr.

Charles Mickey Ellis, Sr. went home to his heavenly Father on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Mickey was a loving husband, father, stepfather, step-grandfather, step-great-grandfather, sibling, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin. He was a great care giver and always helping others. Charles (Mickey) was a retired employee from Mobile Gas Company (He loved reading meters and walked numerous of miles through many neighborhoods). In the past he worked for Ingalls Shipyard & State Docks where he help build the George Wallace Tunnel. He loved cutting down trees, chopping wood and working in his yard. He went to Vigor High in Mobile, AL. He played the drums in the High School Band. He loved playing the drums in a band in his neighborhood for many years called Tuesday Knights. He was a former drummer for his church Travis Road Baptist, where he is a long-time member. He was an avid Alabama "Roll Tide" fan. He loved dancing. He was loved by many and had a host of friends. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Le Anne Stanfield; his parents Rennie Wilton Ellis & Mary Frances Reeves Ellis; Phyllis's stepdaughter Erin Stewart; brothers-in-law Billy & Terry Waggoner; sister-in-law Linda Baker & Donna Wright. Charles is survived by his wife Phyllis J. Ellis; a son Charles Mickey "Chuck" Ellis, Jr.; stepdaughters Nancy Smith Watts (Tom) & Ginger Smith Guy (Percy); stepson Harold Bradford "Brad" Bullard, Jr.; Phyllis's stepchildren Tony Stewart & Kathleen Kelley; step-grandchildren Harrison (Ryan), Christian (Amber), Joseph (Alyssa), Andrew (Amy), Alan, Jacob, Jordan Emma; Phyllis's step-grandchildren Amber, Cambron, Bryce, Beatty, Cooper, Dawson, Noah, Joshua, Ava; step-great-grandchildren Desmond, Dean; Phyllis's step-great-grand children Elizabeth & Jameson; siblings Maureen Ellis Newbill (James) & Dennis J. Ellis; brothers-in-law Pete (Janet), Mark (Fay), Darrell (Vicky), Patrick Waggoner; sisters-in-law Sandra Lopp, Brenda Campbell, Jane Waggoner, Joetta (Joe) Miller; as well as a host of nieces, nephews & cousins. Cremation by Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home, Mobile, AL. Visitation & memorial service to follow at Travis Rd. Baptist Church.
