Mr. Charlie Jo Davis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlie Jo Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on November 19, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on August 17, 1954, in Gadsden, Alabama, Charlie Jo, known lovingly as “Chuck” to many, spent his life serving others with unwavering compassion and dedication. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Pernie Davis, who instilled in him the values of kindness and service that shaped his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Becky Davis; his children, Angela Davis Couling, Jonathan Davis, and Amy Davis; and his cherished grandsons, Benaiah, Joseph, and James Davis. Chuck’s career was defined by his calling to ministry. In Birmingham, he took on the role of Minister of Youth & Education at 85th Street Baptist. He served as Minister of Education at First Baptist Dade City. Then, for three decades, he served as the Church Development Director at the Mobile Baptist Association. His passion for helping others extended beyond his profession through his work with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, World Changers, & the Mobile Baptist Builders. Chuck led countless teams of volunteers into marginalized & impoverished areas, bringing hope and aid to those in need. Beyond his dedication to his faith and family, Chuck found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed golfing, loved solving word search puzzles, and spent hours meticulously crafting cross-stitched Christmas ornaments that now adorn the homes of those he loved. His model train collection brought him endless delight, a reminder of his youthful spirit and eye for detail. A memorial service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, at First Baptist Tillman’s Corner. The family will welcome visitors at 3:00 PM, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life ceremony. All are welcome to join in honoring the life of this remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, ensuring Chuck’s legacy of service and compassion lives on. Chuck Davis leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his light will shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched.
