Cheryl Marie Gibson (Burkett) Born July 11, 1964, and passed away July 20, 2024 Cheryl Marie Gibson (Burkett), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2024, at the age of 60. Cheryl was born on July 11, 1964, to Frank and Toni Burkett in Mobile, Alabama, where she spent most of her childhood. She loved the beach, flowers, and reading. Her primary joy came from her children, grandchildren and family. Cheryl pursued her passion for Nursing. She dedicated her career to caring for and helping others throughout her lifetime. Cheryl's commitment to nursing extended beyond her patients, she was a source of support and information for her co-workers and the families of her patients. Cheryl's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. She was known for her compassionate heart and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her unwavering spirit and determination touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Cheryl was a source of strength and encouragement to her family and friends. She was the lighthouse in the storm. Cheryl will be dearly missed by her loving family: her devoted children Rebekha Friedrich (Reed), Hannah Gibson, and Zachary Gibson; her grandchildren Luke and Victoria Friedrich; her mother Toni Werneth, her brothers Joseph (Joey) and Brian Burkett; and her sister Stephanie McDaniel (Burkett); and numerous nieces and nephews along with many extended family and friends. Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Frank Stephen Burkett, her brother James Lee Burkett, and her grandparents Frank and Mattie Burkett and Leo and Pat Werneth. A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home, 7158 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36695, Visitation will be from 11a-1p. Service to follow. Cheryl Marie Gibson (Burkett) will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her strong determination and the love she felt for her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace, knowing she made a profound impact on the lives she touched.
