Denise Christine Metts

Denise Christine Metts, known to most of us as DeeDee, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2026, at the age of 63, in Mobile, Alabama. A lifelong resident of Mobile, DeeDee was born and raised along the Gulf Coast, though her childhood was filled with travel as part of her father’s service in the United States Air Force. Those early experiences shaped her resilient spirit and her ability to find connection wherever life took her. DeeDee was preceded in death by her parents, Josianne and Richard Metts; her sister, Corinne Stoops; and her brother, Grady Metts. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply, including her sister Liz Snow (Shane); her daughter, Chrissy Frye (Billy); and her cherished grandchildren, Aria, Kyllian, and Kylar. She is also survived by her nieces Megan Snow and Sara Strong (Philip); her nephews Shane Snow, Alton Snow, Richard Metts (Kat), and Logan Frazier; and her great-nieces and nephews Bruce Young, Sawyer Strong, Amelia Strong, Miller Strong, Maverick Strong, and so many others she loved dearly. DeeDee dedicated many years of her life to her work at Walmart, where she took great pride in her store and formed lasting bonds with her coworkers, whom she considered family. Outside of work, DeeDee found joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments. She loved the beach, the warmth of the sun on her skin, and the quiet happiness that came with being near the water. She had a special love for butterflies, finding beauty and meaning in them, and surrounding herself with their images whenever she could. More than anything, her greatest joy was her family—especially her role as a grandmother and aunt. She adored the children in her life and would do anything to make them smile. Her love was big, loud, and unconditional. She will be remembered for her silly spirit, her caring heart, and her unmistakable feisty attitude. DeeDee loved deeply, and that love will continue to live on in everyone who knew her. A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m., at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home. In honor of DeeDee, guests are asked to wear lavender or any shade of purple. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love never leaves us—it lives on in every laugh, every memory, and every moment we carry her with us.
