Ms. Iris Clara Kelley

Iris Clara Anderson Kelley, known affectionately as "Mamaw," was born on October 22, 1929, in Brewton, AL, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2024, in Cumming, GA, at the age of 94. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even great-great-grandmother. Iris spent the majority of her life caring for her beloved family. Iris is survived by her daughter Iris Linda Kelly Davis, son Michael Edward Kelly (Terri), grandson Andrew Richard Kelly (Katie), grandson Brandon Michael Kelly (Jillian), great granddaughter Courtney Nicole Kelly Ralston (Teddy), great-great-grandson Kyro Reign Ralston, great-granddaughter Lillian Mae Kelly, granddaughter Kimberly Ann Nottingham, grandson Kevin Ray Kelly (Keri), grandson David Davis, grandson Billy Hill, granddaughter Jessica Davis, and great-granddaughter Melody Noel Cleburn. She is also survived by her brother J. L. Anderson and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her father Alvin S. Anderson, mother Hester Smith Anderson, husband J. F. "Jake" Kelley, sons Jake Larry Kelly, Jerry Allen Kelly, Jimmy Wayne Kelly, Tommy Ray Kelly, sisters Onita Anderson Tutt Null and Betty Anderson, brothers Alvin Anderson, Shellie Anderson, Melvin Anderson, granddaughters Bonnie Ann Cleburn, Krystal Davis, Melissa Hill, and other family members. Iris worked at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, and was also a licensed hairdresser/beautician. She worshipped at First Baptist Church of Theodore, where she recalls that she accepted Jesus as her savior during a revival service and was baptized in a creek around the age of 12. Her hobbies included cooking delicious southern soul food, with her fried pork chops, tea cakes and fried apple pies being a family favorite. She enjoyed playing card games like Canasta with her husband, Jake, and family members including George and Sherbie Hewes, Aunt Mattie and Aunt Belle, among others. A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Springs Baptist Church in Theodore, Alabama, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. The funeral home assisting with the arrangements is Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home in Mobile, AL.
