Ms. Lisa Michele Allen

Mrs. Lisa Michele Cotten Allen passed from this physical realm into eternity on January 31, 2023 at her home in Wilmer, Al. Born in Fort Bragg, NC on April 30, 1959 to Carl Edward (Cooter) Cotten and Barbara Ann (Spellman) Cotten. Lisa spent her early childhood in and around the New Orleans, LA area. Her father’s job brought her to Brewton, AL in the early 1970’s. Lisa was a 1977 graduate of T.R. Miller High School, studied pre-med at LSU, studied EMT-Intermediate at Jefferson Davis State Junior College, studied at Delgado Community College, and studied EMT-Paramedic at University of South Alabama. She was Team Lead at GetixHealth at the time of her death. Her medical career field took her to numerous areas of Louisiana and Alabama before she put down roots in the Mobile, AL area. Lisa enjoyed numerous hobbies, genealogy being number 1 on the list (as witnessed by the numerous volumes of Genealogy research she had done over the years), crochet, needlepoint, reading, an avid interest in lost history and science fiction, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Alabama fan and only cheered against them when they played LSU, actually cheering for both at the same time. And she was a huge Saints Geaux Tigers Who Dat?!! Fan! Her legendary smile, because she was never without it, will be so missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Barbara Cotten; her husband Robert Allen; maternal grandparents Ernest P. Spellman and Adele Stenger Spellman; Uncles Ernest Spellman, Jr. and Cpl. Wayne Spellman; paternal grandparents Birl Cotten and Dezzie (Hinton) Cotten; Uncles Lonnie Cotten, JC Cotten, Beverly “Tinker” Cotten, William Cotten, and Larry Cotten. Infant nephew Riley Cotten, sister- in-law Rhonda Lester Cotten; and numerous other family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. She is survived by her daughters Laura Cotten and Katy Allen (Cody) Noblin, six grandchildren, and son Josh Allen. Brother Kelly (Melanie Denham) Cotten, Shannon (Tom) Simmons, Erin (Jeffrey) Wolfe, and Jude (Vick) Taylor. Nieces Megan Cotten, Caitlin (Stephen) Sampson, Bree McCallister, Victoria Wolfe, and Melanie Taylor (Kristian Gilbert); and nephew Chris Taylor; 3 great grand nephews Wyatt and Henry Sampson, and Lukas Gilbert; and special lifelong friend Terry Blankenship. Lisa’s Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, March 4, 2023 at St. Maurice Catholic Church Fellowship Hall in Brewton, AL. The family will have a private memorial before.
