Marilee "Lee" McKinnon

With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Marilee “Lee” McKinnon, who passed away at the age of 63. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Lee made her home in Mobile, Alabama, where she built a life defined by strength, resilience, and compassion. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She proudly worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) before later pursuing a career as a professional truck driver, embracing the freedom of the open road with the same determination and independence that defined her life. No matter where life led her, she took great pride in her work and never shied away from a challenge. Lee will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and caring nature. She was the type of person who would help anyone in need and always made time for the people she loved. Her warmth and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Anyone who knew Lee also knew her love for Alabama football. Whether watching the game from home or cheering on the Crimson Tide from wherever she happened to be on the road, she was a devoted fan through and through. Roll Tide! Above all else, Lee loved her family. She was a proud and devoted mother to Candace Adams and Kenan McKinnon, a loving mother-in-law to Melissa McKinnon, and a cherished Mimi to her three beloved grandchildren—Kacey, Kalen, and Maddox—who brought endless joy to her life. She is also survived by her loving sister, Karen Marston; her brothers, Steven McKinnon and David McKinnon; along with extended family and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her. Lee was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mary Middleton and Lindell McKinnon, and by her younger brother, Darrell McKinnon. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that Lee’s journey was one of strength, compassion, and unconditional love.
