Mother Annie Davis Kidd

Mrs. Annie Davis Kidd “Madea” peacefully entered the arms of her Heavenly Father on January 30, 2022 at the age of 93. She was a native of Coy, AL in Wilcox County, but resided in Mobile, AL most of her life. She was born to the union of Sam and Mamie Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband Deacon Johnnie Kidd Sr. ,daughter Sis. Mamie L. Kidd, two sisters, Marietta (James) Milton, and Autherine (Willie) Huff, and brother, Tommie Davis. Madea was a true believer in Christ and served the Lord wholeheartedly. She was a longtime, faithful member of Love Joy Temple Holiness Church, where she served under Bishop Freddie Lee Davis. She faithfully served on the Mother’s Board and LJT Choir. She was a true worshiper. Mother Kidd graduated from Wilcox County High School in Camden AL, where she played on the girls basketball team. Her work ethic was impeccable, and she retired from Ingalls Ship Building as a welder. After retiring from Ingalls Shipbuilding, she went on to work at Angela Davis Christian Academy part-time in the daycare nursery, where she cared for infants and toddlers. She had a love and passion for children. She was a devoted wife. She was a praying Mother and Grandmother. Madea was a giver. She was a magnificent cook. She always had an encouraging word to give to anyone who needed it. She was loved and well respected by everyone who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memories three devoted daughters, Christine D. Kidd of Houston, TX, Valarie Y. Kidd, and Elder Dedra C. (Leon) Gordon both of Mobile, AL; four devoted sons, Johnnie L. Kidd and Samuel J. Kidd both of Pensacola, Fl; Micah C. Kidd and Eric (Danielle) Kidd, both of Mobile, AL; two brothers, John D. Davis of Mobile, AL and Robert Davis of Youngstown, OH. Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.
