Mr. Stephen Alfred Yancey

Stephen “Bo” Alfred Yancey peacefully passed away and entered into his Saviour’s arms on February 20th, 2023. He died on what would have been his daddy’s 88th birthday so his home going was on a very special day, his sister Cheryl was holding his hand and playing beautiful hymns for him to usher him into heaven. Stephen was born to Joseph Alfred Yancey and Marion Genora James Yancey on March 30, 1964 at Mobile Infirmary, Steve or Bo as his family called him grew up in a wonderful Christian home with very loving parents who both served faithfully in Christian ministry. He was the youngest of 3 children and the only boy so you can imagine he was a bit spoiled but also protected by his sister’s. Bo loved music and had a beautiful tenor singing voice and sang in the church choirs that his daddy usually directed, he loved to sing duets with his daddy too. He worked in the music industry as a DJ for much of his career until he went on disability due to some health issues. Steve was so very proud of his son Jeremy and his only granddaughter Joleigh, he talked about them often. He was always willing to help those in need, he wanted to do God’s work. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Troy and Clara James, his paternal grandparents August and Susie Yancey, his son’s mama Deb Yancey, his daddy Joseph Alfred Yancey and his brother-in-law James Hoskins. He is survived by his son Jeremy (Kaitlyn) Yancey and his precious granddaughter Joleigh of Bridgeport, Al, his mama Marion Genora Yancey of Silverhill, Al, his sister’s Rita Hoskins of Excel, Al and Cheryl (Bill) McMann of Loxley, Al, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He also had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, many of which also preceded him in death. He will be missed and he was loved very much. His favorite verse of scripture was also his daddy’s favorite verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV No services will be held, a memorial will be planned for a later date. The family asks if you’d like to honor Stephen to consider making a contribution to National Alliance on Mental Illness or a Mental Health Organization of your choosing.
