Vivion Vernon McRae

Vivion Vernon “Buddy Mc” McRae, 74, of Wilmer, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Born on June 3, 1951, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Buddy lived a life defined by love, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple things. He was a man who never met a stranger and always made time for a conversation, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years. Following his service, he built a long and dedicated career, beginning at Buddy’s Service Station as a young man in Mobile, Alabama. He later worked as a welder and pipe fitter with Draco Materials for 13 years and went on to retire after 31 years with Allen Southern Electric Motors. He took great pride in his work and was respected by all who worked alongside him. He found his greatest joy in the outdoors—fishing, camping, and simply enjoying life at a slower pace. Some of his most cherished moments were the simplest ones, spent outside doing what he loved. Above all, Buddy was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Paulette Presnall McRae; his daughters, Dell Kountz (Timbo), Tammi White, Daphne Robinson, and Paulann Turner; his sons, Douglas McRae (Marla), Christopher McRae (Caitlin), and Aubrey Dale McRae; and his brother, Charlie McRae. He was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom brought him great joy. He is preceded in death by his parents, David Melvin McRae and Celice Laverne McRae; his sisters, Linda Lue Stevens and Elizabeth Sims; and his brothers, David McRae and Jerry McRae. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home, 7158 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., with services immediately following. Buddy Mc will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the simple way he lived his life.
