Mr. David John Overton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. David John Overton, age 58, a resident of Mobile, Alabama passed on March 27, 2022. David passed peacefully during the night following the joyous event of his oldest son Jamie’s marriage on March 26, 2022. He was a member of Creekwood Church of Christ. David was a graduate of Winston County High School. He then graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Education. David’s father, Jim Overton, served in the United States Air Force. David was born in Bermuda. Growing up David lived in London, England, upstate New York, California, and many other places. David’s father retired and the family moved back to Double Springs, Alabama when David was in the eighth grade. David married Beth Delaine Griffin on December 22, 1988. The marriage took place in Winston County, Alabama. The two met while working together at Dominos Pizza in Opelika, Alabama. Beth was a senior at Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine when they married. The couple lived for a year in Greensboro, North Carolina before moving to Mobile, Alabama in 1989. In 1992, Beth purchased Dr. L. E. Irby’s practice. David loved Auburn and especially Auburn football. He loved history, especially Civil War history. Coin and gun collecting were also David’s passions. David will be lovingly remembered by his three children: James Marshall Overton, Anastasia Noel Overton, and Griffin David Overton. Daughter-in-law Laura Read (Lee) Overton. Mother, Jean Anna (Webb) Overton. Brothers Bradley Thomas (Nancy) Overton and Stephen William (Kendra) Overton. He was preceded in death by his father James William Overton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9th at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home. 7158 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36695. Visitation is from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Funeral service 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Pine Crest West Cemetery at 2:20 PM.
