Mr. Frank Arthur Herrington Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Frank Herrington died suddenly at home on Sunday, January 3rd, with his wife, Sharron by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Hal and Buena Bonner Herrington. He is survived by his wife Sharron; his daughter Heather (Scott Thigpen), her mother Gay, and a host of family and friends. Frank grew up on Fowl River, where he fished and skied and explored with his childhood friends. As a young man, he was known for playing his guitar really loud and surfing at Dauphin Island when the waves were good. He had a great sense of adventure and was the founder of the Fowl River Adventure Club, which he reestablished in his later years. Frank was a kind and loving father and husband, quick to give a warm hug and “I love you”. He was a wise listener, gentle with advice and guidance. He loved hard: he was passionate about his family, his friends, racing cars, traveling to Heather’s horse shows, fishing for marlin in the Gulf, patrolling the shore for submarines, telling tall tales, eating good food, drinking expensive rum and listening to Jimmy Buffett. He had a natural curiosity about the world and all things in it; as a voracious reader, he loved learning and mastering his new avocations. He was a complex man, as much a gregarious storyteller as he was quiet, caring and introspective, oftentimes feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. He will be missed profoundly. We plan for a celebration of Frank’s life at a later date.
