Mr. Donald Lee Long

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband Donald Lee Long. He lived a life filled with love, compassion and deep dedication to his family. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. Don was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, and took great pride in his hometown. As a graduate of Baker High School, he treasured the memories and friendships formed and married his high school sweetheart. An avid Alabama football fan, Don's enthusiasm for all sports knew no bounds and he shared his passion with others by coaching many baseball teams over the years. In Don’s later years, he thoroughly enjoyed Rock Steady Boxing. Not only was Don a man of sports, but he was also a true master craftsman. His woodworking skills were unmatched, and his creations were works of art. He put his heart into the extra touches with impressive trim work and attention to detail in home building. Don loved his family and he found so much joy in their presence. He cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His warm smile and engaging conversations endeared him to everyone he met. Don had a natural ability to connect with people and formed numerous deep friendships. Don enjoyed spending time in nature, camping and fishing. He also had a fondness for the Great Smokey Mountains, particularly the Biltmore House and enjoyed many vacations to North Carolina. Don's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was an active member of Gracepointe Mobile church. Don is survived by his wife, Sharon Long; three children, Dana (Dewayne) Miller, Donnie (Gia) Long, and Dacia Bradley; seven grandchildren, Sean (Elise) Miller, Brae Miller, Abby (Jason) Ross, Jocelyn Bradley, Nathan Long, Sara Kate Long, and Mya Bradley; one great-grandson Isaiah Ross; three brothers, Raymond (Cathy) Long, Jerry (Sharon) Long, Paul Long; two sisters, Lynda (Bobby) Young, Kathy Long and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, William and Reccie Long, and sister, Sharon Long Mooring. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama.
