James Allen Johnson

James Allen Johnson, age 56, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Birmingham. Born on February 8, 1970, He built a life rooted in family, hard work, and unwavering love. James found his greatest joy in being surrounded by his children. He was the loving father of five children. Teavis, Jaelyn, Loryn affectionately called “Bren”, Jasia and his “baby girl” Makayla. He was also a caring father to two sons whom he raised as his own Aakyrie and Kameron. Whether teaching them how to ride bikes in their younger years or guiding them as they learned to drive, James was always present—patient, steady, and proud every step of the way. For over 15 years, James worked as a truck driver, a profession he took immense pride in. He loved the open road and the sense of purpose his work gave him. Even after retiring, he carried that same pride in all that he did. In his free time, James developed a special fondness for dogs, particularly Rottweilers, and enjoyed watching sports—especially college football. He had a deep, unmistakable laugh and a personality that filled any room. Known for being straightforward, James had a signature way of making his point clear, often ending his words with, “You understand me?”—a phrase his family will forever hear in their hearts. Above all else, James loved his wife Tenesha dearly. He lovingly referred to her as his “Nesha”. Their bond was one of enduring, steadfast love. Through every challenge, especially during his health struggles, she remained faithfully by his side. James made it his mission to ensure she was always cared for. He took pride in being the reason for her smile. James showed a constant- unshakeable and unconditional love for Tenesha. James was introduced to Jehovah’s witnesses by Tenesha and developed a deep respect and appreciation for all that he learned. James Johnson was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Singleton Johnson, and his niece, Zhané Kiara Winston-Johnson, four aunts and two uncles. James also leaves behind his father, John Edward Johnson; his devoted sister, Zaunnette (Leroy) Morrisette; and his brother, James Allen Gilliard. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. James will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, his curiosity, and his steadfast devotion to those he loved.
