Mr. Michael Joshua Ficke

Michael Joshua Ficke, 37, of Mobile, left this world far too soon on Jan. 4, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and legendary hugs. His passing was sudden and unexpected, and while our hearts ache with his absence, we celebrate the incredible life he lived. Kindness was Mike’s superpower, and he wielded it effortlessly. His hugs were not just hugs—they were an experience. Somehow, Mike had a way of holding on just long enough to make you feel seen, valued, and truly cared for. If anyone else attempted hugs of that magnitude, it might have been awkward—but not Mike. He had a gift for wrapping what felt like pure magic into a single embrace. Mike had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel better about anything. To know Mike was to receive a piece of him, as he gave freely of himself to everyone he encountered. He brought so much joy to so many people, stitching together a patchwork quilt of diverse friends and loved ones. On paper, some of these groups might not have made that much sense, but Mike made it work, weaving connections that were as strong and vibrant as his personality. Mike loved fiercely and unconditionally, and he wasn’t afraid to show it. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he met five minutes ago, he made you feel like you belonged. He was the glue that held so many of us together. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from—if you met Mike, you were better for it. He had a passion for life that was infectious. He was a connoisseur of silly shirts, ugly Christmas sweaters, and novelty shorts, rocking them with the unshakeable confidence of a Fashion Week catwalk model. A lifelong fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, he could often be found cheering loudly for his teams, win or lose. Mike also never outgrew his love for Legos and baseball cards, reflecting his kid-at-heart spirit. Mike's sense of humor was as bold as his wardrobe, and he wasn’t above doing something completely ridiculous just to get a laugh. He lived his life loud, large, and unapologetically silly, and he loved with the kind of fierce, unconditional devotion that’s all too rare. Mike was joy and generosity personified, loved immediately and wholeheartedly by everyone who crossed his path. He made life brighter and fuller, and his absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled. Mike is survived by his wife Lisi Mohandessi, his mother- and father-in-law Mary Ann and Hossein Mohandessi, his brothers- and sisters-in-law Bijan and Pamela Mohandessi and Nadia Mohandessi and Michael Morris, his nephews Braxton Taylor, Logan Taylor, and Landon Mohandessi, his niece Myla Mohandessi, a multitude of friends, and a community forever enriched by his love and kindness. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, at Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-6 p.m., with the service to follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Mike’s memory.
