Rebecca Suzanne Solano

Mrs. Rebecca Suzanne Solano, a lifelong resident of Mobile and Mobile County, passed away on April 16th, 2026, surrounded by family. She was 71 years old. Mrs. Solano was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Mr. Gilbert Anthony Solano (October 15th, 2024) and her parents, Thomas and Barbara Hoffman. She is survived by her children: Robin Solano, Michael (Kelly) Solano, Stacy Solano Potts and Ashley Solano; Grandchildren: Shelby Potts, Cooper McLaney, Dylan Solano, Madison Potts, Samuel Solano and Jacob Webster; and great granddaughter Emery McLaney. Siblings: Deborah Hoffman Smith, Michael (Connie) Hoffman, Patrick (Cindy) Hoffman, Angela Hoffman Ferguson, Matthew (Teresa) Hoffman, Vincent Hoffman, Sister-in-law Patsy Davis and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, bonus grandchildren, family and friends. Mrs. Solano, known as Becky, was born on September 7th, 1954 in Mobile, AL. She was baptized at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Mobile, and later married at St. Matthew’s on October 28th, 1972. Mrs. Solano was a devoted and cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend to all. She and her husband Gilbert, raised their family in the Hollinger’s Island community in Theodore, AL. She was a steadfast volunteer at Hollinger’s Island Elementary for many years. She served in the PTO, was room Mom, assisted teachers as needed, organized school festivals and was the “cake walk queen”. She was “Mom” to many other children besides her own. Mrs. Solano also loved visits to Dauphin Island, tending her flower gardens and bird feeders, bird watching, trips to the casinos, playing bingo, attending lawn parties, Mardi Gras and spending time with her family. She was a devoted caretaker to her husband in 2024 during his illness. Her favorite title was “Nana” and she loved her grandchildren fiercely, cheering them on in all of their activities and was a constant presence in their lives. To say she will be missed beyond measure is an understatement. The family has chosen a private celebration of life.
