Mr. Ronald Everts

Ronald Marvin Everts was born May 6, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois. God called him home on March 20, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin L. and Helen (DuMars) Everts and his aunt Geraldine DuMars. Ron is survived by his wife, Dawn, his daughter Alexandra (Matt) Adams and his stepdaughter, Eve (Thomas) Croom. He left two granddaughters - Elise Bowab and Emma Adams. Ron was raised by his parents who were both teachers. His father, Marvin was public school science teacher. His mother, Helen taught English and was a concert pianist. Ron loved to learn and was a precocious child. At an early age, Ron’s dad asked him to give lectures on dinosaurs and astronomy to his classes. One of Ron’s first jobs was giving lectures about the solar system and giving tours at the Northmoor Observatory. He was only 13. His mother made Ron practice violin five hours a day and became an accomplished violinist and Concert Master by the age of 17. He loved being in front of an audience and was chosen to play the part of Becket in his high school play. He is the only person I know with a real sword wound. He talked the Director in to using his sword instead of a cardboard one.There was a stand in for one of the players in the rehearsal before opening night. The stand in may have known the lines, but did not know stage directions as well. The stand in sword found its way 3 inches into the back of Ron’s waist. This injury did not prevent Ron from performing opening night! After high school, Ron was able to broaden his horizon by taking a trip around the world at only 21 years of age. He saw many wonders but often went off the beaten path. These alternative paths lead him to places that revealed the horrors of the world too and he experienced seeing lepers begging on the streets pulling and tugging at his clothing. After this, he received Drama coaching from the prestigious Goodman Theatre. There he was told he had an operatic voice and was encouraged to cultivate it. He went to The Chicago Conservatory of Music and The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He developed his velvety smooth voice with a range of Tenor to Base Baritone. Ron performed with Opera Companies in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago. His last coach was the great Heldon Tenor, James King who took Ron under his wing and became his close friend. Mr. King proclaimed that Ron was ready for any opera house in the world. Ron was an excellent sketcher and painter. He designed stages and costumes for the Natchez Opera Festival for “LaTraviata”. In 1984 Ron teamed up with Live Oak Advertising and did two TV commercials for Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers. This experience led him into a TV advertising career. His clients included a car dealership, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s campaign, among others, He wrote many brochures, TV scripts and videos. He left advertising in 1987 to serve as the Chief Deputy of Baldwin County. There was an influx of mysterious murders in Baldwin County in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Ron fully believed God put him in the right place at the right time to solve the mysteries. He was both Chief Deputy and Chief Inspector at this time. He also had the privilege of working with the Secret Service team in securing George H.W. Bush’s safety when he came to Baldwin County. He was able to meet the President and even had his photo taken shaking President Bush’s hand. When employed with Baldwin County, Ron would still do some work in advertising. He completed some brochures, scripts and videos for Denson Reed Marketing. Some of his clients included Emperor Clocks, Milliken Carpets, and Mobile Airport Authority. Ron did videos for Boeing and Airbus to entice them to come to Mobile. The video he did for Airbus was recorded entirely in French on one side of the DVD and in English on the other side. Ron was so talented in so many areas. He loved taking people on tours at the Peoria Observatory. He loved excavating in burials grounds, and was a lifetime member of Field Museum in Chicago. He acted and sang opera, he sang with Mobile Opera’s “Night of Song” for six years. He could play the violin, draw, write, paint and act and yet was also successful in law enforcement (a true renaissance man).
