In Loving Memory of Tommy Geron McKenna With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tommy Geron McKenna, who passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 78. Tommy was raised in Prichard, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Levi and Annezine Everett McKenna, and his brothers, John Levi, William E., and Michael J. McKenna. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Connie; his loving daughters ,Margaret Ann McKenna and Kathy Lynn McKenna his brother, James Richard; his sisters, Margie Locatto and Sandy Lester; his beloved goddaughter, Lina, and her husband, Mike Pruyne, of Oak Harbor, Washington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Tommy proudly served in the United States Army Military Police, completing two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Korea. During his military career, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Humanitarian Service Medal, among other honors. His service was a source of great pride throughout his life. After his military career, Tommy continued to live a life marked by compassion, strength, laughter, and deep devotion to his family. He touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Tommy wanted his daughters to experience and appreciate their mother’s culture, so he moved his family to Guam. There, Tommy and Margaret Ann discovered a shared love of scuba diving and went on to earn their Master Diver certifications. They were intrigued by the beauty and adventure of the ocean, which Tommy often described as a giant fish aquarium. Tommy also embraced the island’s love of karaoke. After a little practice—and perhaps a little “liquid courage”—he found himself singing in local bars and making memories wherever he went. After experiencing powerful typhoons with winds reaching 120 to 150 miles per hour and an earthquake measuring 8.1 in magnitude, the family eventually decided it was time to say, “Let’s go back to Mobile.” Back in Mobile he spotted Papa George, and there he established new friends and attending Mardi Gras balls. He lived a life filled with laughter, music, adventure, and a willingness to help others in need. Tommy did not leave a hole in our hearts; he left an imprint—a lasting reminder of how he wanted us to live our lives: with compassion, strength, laughter, and love. We love and miss you, Mannge man/Daddy. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Providence Hospital, Springhill Medical Center, Infirmary Home Care and Starbucks for their care and support. Special thanks to Nicholas Karakosolis, (Kathy’s fiancé) Michelle and her father, Ron McCormick, who added Tommy’s name to the prayer list and the Repose Mass at Corpus Christi Catholic Church; and to everyone who offered their help, love, and support to Tommy and his family during this time.
